Actively Learn | Actively Learn is an online resource that allows multiple avenues for interacting with digital texts; students can annotate by highlighting, adding comments, noting areas of confusion or misunderstanding, and ask/answer questions. Google Drive | I am a BIG fan of Google Drive and encourage all of my students to use it for writing their essays or completing slideshow presentations. Google Docs functions very similarly to Word, but the bonus is that it saves work automatically (no risk of losing hard work!) and students can access it from any device with internet access.
Easy Bib | This online citation generator simplifies the process of making MLA citations. Be sure to click on ‘MLA 8’ before you use it.
Issaquah High School Library | Links to the scholarly databases that the school subscribes to may be accessed here.
King County Library | IHS students have additional access to resources through KCLS. Also, if you are a KCLS card holder, you may print up to 75 pages a week for free!
The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) | Purdue OWL provides unlimited online writing support worldwide. It is a great resource for questions about writing, grammar, and formatting (MLA for Humanities disciplines).
TurnItIn | TurnItIn.com is an online webspace that allows students to submit their written work for grading and receive teacher and peer feedback. The English Department at IHS requires that all major essays or writing assignments be turned in through this resources as a means to check for plagiarism and then archived.
